Industry, IL - Opal Payne, 94, of 104 S. Price Street, died at 8:01 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

Born Oct. 4, 1907, in Washington, Iowa, to William Fletcher Lance and Lucy Ann Swango Lance, she married Marvin Payne on March 12, 1952, in Springfield. He died on Nov. 3, 1968.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters; three brothers; one stepson, Dean Payne; and one great-grandson.

Surviving are three stepsons, George Payne and Verl (and Christine) Payne, both of Industry, and Gerald (and Betty) Payne of Adair; seven grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; and six greatgreat-grandchildren.

She operated Hertenstein Loan Co. in Macomb for many years.

She was a member of Industry Methodist Church, a 72-year member of Order of Eastern Star and a member of White Shrine.

Burial will be in Industry Cemetery.
