Heaven received an angel on November 12, 2015, when Charles Roy "Chuck" Jones passed away at his home in Mesick, MI, with family by his side. He was 87.
Chuck was born on June 19, 1928, in Sherman MI, to Roy and Blanche (Crowell) Jones. He always talked about his job at the Cadillac foundry, where he worked as a machine molder.
In 1948 Chuck joined the U.S. Army and served in Company B, 46th Engineer Construction Battalion. He was honorably discharged as a technical sergeant.
Chuck worked as a carpenter, building boats for Chris-Craft, before moving his family to Fry, AZ, in 1961; there he became the owner/operator of the Fry Trailer Park. Chuck and Shirley raised their sons in the trailer park, where they all worked and lived. After settling in Fry, he began volunteering with the Fry Volunteer Fire Company. He later became a paid employee with what is now known as the Fry Fire District, and he retired as the fire chief in 1987.
Chuck was an avid outdoorsman his entire life with a love for hunting, fishing, and camping, especially with family and friends. He loved to tinker, and in his own words was a "jack of all trades and master of none." He had a strong sense of service to his community and a passion for helping people. Chuck enjoyed talking to others and sharing life events.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife of 17 years, Jean M. (Williams McClure) Jones; three sons, Martin D. (Diana) Jones, Gary M. (Linda) Jones and Chris A. Jones; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, baby Fred Jones and Marion L. Jones; a sister, Mary Rena Ball; and his loving wife of 43 years, Shirley Ann (Bailey) Jones.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mesick United Methodist Church, Mesick MI. Interment will take place at Cochise Memory Gardens in Sierra Vista, AZ.
