William Newton Savage was the son of James Savage and his wife Rhoda Ann.

The death certificate for William N., lists his mother's maiden name as Rhoda Sneed though some believe that she was the daughter of Richard Sharp. There is a Thomas P. Sneed, also buried in Chitwood, who would be of an age to be a brother or a cousin of Rhoda, if connected at all. The James and Rhoda Savage family are listed with the Richard Sharp family in the 1860 Census.

Rhoda and James were the parents of ten children with only four yet alive in 1900. Their known children are--

*Elizabeth Savage--
*Mary Savage--
*Cinthy J. Savage--Last seen in records 1910, wife of Andrew W. Smith, Mt. Vernon, Lawrence County, Missouri
*William Newton Savage--seen here
*Sarah E. Savage--
*James Andrew 'Andy' Savage---(Andrew Jackson Savage on DC) Married first to Mary Caroline Ford, daughter of Rufus L. Ford and his wife Jane Ann Aldridge. Mary died in 1889, left behind 4 children, and is buried in Danforth Cemetery with her parents and many other relations, in Greene County, Missouri. Andy married for a second time to Laura Lue Cavner.
*Thomas Monroe Savage--1863-1950--Married Sarah Catherine Thomas. Both buried Maysville Cemetery, Benton County, Arkansas
*Robert Savage--

It is believed that Willaim N. Savage had been married and might have been the father of one child.

William's mother Rhoda lived with William until her death in 1930 at nearly 100 years of age. William Newton died only 2 years after his mother. Both of William's parents are also buried in Chitwood Cemetery.
