ARTHUR GORDON "ART" LUCAS, JR., 69, passed away on November 3, 2015, at his home in Edmond, Oklahoma, after a lengthy battle with congestive heart failure.
Art was born on December 8, 1944, in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was the oldest of three children. He was raised in Duncan, Oklahoma, where he graduated from Duncan High School, class of 1963. He then attended Cameron University prior to service in the U.S. Navy. During his time in the service he married his high school sweetheart, Glynda Gail Goodgion, also of Duncan, on June 11, 1966. They were married for 49 years. He was an established member of the Oklahoma oil and gas community for 40 years.
In addition to fishing and being in the mountains, he and Glynda loved to travel, and the two of them could often be found in Las Vegas. Art spent his last years caring for his beloved wife Glynda.
Art is survived by his wife, Glynda; his mother, Ruth Ann Woodard of Duncan; three daughters, Teri Martin of Las Vegas, Nevada, Traci Owen of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Tami Sutherland of Shawnee, Oklahoma; and eight grandchildren, Alexander Martin, Matthew Martin, Jackson Martin, Ashley Owen, Tyler Owen, Kyle Hood, Kolbie Hood and Kaylin Hood. He is further survived by a brother, Larry Woodard and his wife Jan of Duncan; and nieces and nephews, Nancy Patterson Carter, Thomas Winton, Adrienne Nguyen, Wade Morgan and Mindy Ellington Bohn.
He was preceded in death by his father, Byron Ethan Woodard; and his sister, Patricia Woodard Norton, both of Duncan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital.
