Avis Eyleen Sherry Pearson, 98, of Arco, Idaho passed away Friday, November 13, 2015 at Lincoln Court in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

She was born January 9, 1917 in Denver, Colorado to Floyd Daniel Sherry, Sr. and Edith Beatrice Bailey. Avis was the oldest child, followed by Floyd Jr., Keith (Bill), a baby boy that lived half an hour. Alice and Alma, twins. All are deceased except Bill’s wife, Doris.

Her father was a miner so Avis spent her early years in mining towns and areas. After a year in Denver, they moved to Hailey, Gibbonsville, Mackay and many other places in the area. She graduated from Mackay High School and attended business college.

She married Albert Blaine Pearson on March 6, 1938 and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Albert passed away November 10, 1990. Children born to this union were: Ruth Eyleen Acor(Everett Acor, deceased), Sherry Anne Garner Oleson, Rita Louise (Vern Fisher, divorced), Gary Blaine (Sheril). They lived on a farm about four miles south of Moore, until called on a church building mission to Japan in 1964, but were reassigned to Taiwan, where he built a church. Later they served another mission to Australia.

Albert built a new home for them in about 1945. During her later lifetime she lived in Arco, Moore, Rexburg and Idaho Falls. She sewed all the clothing for the family, taught 4-H, helped on the farm, knitted and crocheted afghans for all her grandchildren and first great granddaughter.

She served as Young Women’s President, Stake Relief Society Secretary, Relief Society pianist and was Secretary for the LDS Seminary for a few years.

Graveside services will be held at the Lost River Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015 under the direction of the Hawker Lost River Funeral Home. Following the service, a luncheon and visiting for family and friends, will be held at the Moore LDS Church.
