Jacques was the son of Fiacre Dodier and Catherine Melenel. He arrived in Quebec about 1656 and was a plowman by trade. He married Catherine Caron, daughter of Robert Caron and Marie Crevat, on Nov 30, 1662, at Château-Richer, Québec, Canada. He died at the age of 75.
