WEICKER, Oliver Frederick Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, November 13, 2015, at VON Sakura House, Woodstock. Oliver was born 89 years ago in New Hamburg, Ontario, and was the son of the late Maurice and Luella (Roth) Weicker. Beloved husband of Margaret Weicker (Thompson) whom he married September 18, 1947. Dear father and father-in-law of William (Bill) Weicker and friend Chloe Ying of RR1 Plattsville, and Robert (Bob) and wife Amina Weicker of Vancouver, B.C. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Jessica, Nicholas and Noah, and his great-grandchild Devonte. Remembered by his sister Barbara and husband Alfred Nigul of Kitchener, as well as his sister-in-law Evelyn Thompson, also of Kitchener. Oliver was predeceased by his sister Alice Weicker. "All men die, few men really live" - William Wallace Oliver Weicker was one of those few. He took on the greatest disease of modern time. He fought, and fought, and then fought again. To the very end he challenged cancer head on with such gusto that he shocked all doctors. In life, Oliver and Margaret stood side by side in everything they did. Supplying the whole town of New Hamburg with milk during the fifties and sixties was very rewarding. As was the sale of high quality Holsteins worldwide, and the breeding of what Oliver called "long time producers" not the factory version of dairy farming common today. Every cow in Oliver's barn was important - every one. He also had a passion for fox, coon and pheasant hunting, and owned and bred the top hounds in Canada. Oliver and Margaret carved a beautiful property out of a few acres of scrub, and enjoyed their retirement years taking care of business around this home. Family and friends will be received at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service to be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home with Pastor Andrew Mills officiating. Interment to follow in the Chesterfield United Cemetery, Bright, Ontario. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the London Regional Cancer Centre, Grand River Regional Cancer Centre or the VON Sakura House.
