Albert J. Morgen, 79, of 1128 Cleveland Street, Kiel, died Friday evening, May 2, shortly after admittance to Calumet Memorial Hospital in Chilton. He had suffered a heart attack at his home.
Mr. Morgen was born Sept. 21, 1906 in Mt. Calvary, son of Nicholas and Josephine Blatz Morgen.
He attended Holy Cross Catholic School in Mt. Calvary.
Mr. Mogen and Barbara Birkhauser were married April 24, 1934, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. The couple farmed in Mt. Calvary until retirement in 1972 and moved to Kiel in 1979. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1984.
Mr. Morgen was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel and its Holy Name Society.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Darlene) Steffes of LaCrosse, Mrs. James (Yvonne) Schneider of Kiel and Mrs. Patrick (Janet) Dyer of Fond du Lac; one son, Alvin of Kiel; 15 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Clara Bast of Mt. Calvary.
Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
The funeral Mass was Monday at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. The Rev. Wayne Bittner, pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth, a nephew, was celebrant. Brief family rites were held at Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
