Mr. Thomas Melton Boatright, age 82, died Thursday at Browns Health and Rehab under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice.
The Savannah, Georgia native was a graduate of Savannah High School. Following his graduation, Tommy joined the U. S. Air Force and served for four years. Upon his discharge, Tommy moved to Bulloch County and resided for several years. He then moved to Dallas, Texas, where he met Juanita Phillips at a local church and the two married in 1977. They soon moved to Garland, TX where they resided briefly, before moving to Nevils, Ga. in 1981. Tommy worked briefly with ITT Grinell before beginning his career with Farmers Automatic where he retired as the Warehouse Supervisor following many years of service.
Tommy was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church in Nevils, where he was a member of the Roscoe Roberts Sunday School Class, the church choir and was the Visitation Minister.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melton and Bernice Denmark Boatright.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Juanita Phillips Boatright of Nevils; a step daughter and her husband, Louise and Wayne Morgan of Nevils; a step son, Gary Hoopes of Olathe, KS; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Judy and Palmer White of Nevils and Sally Scahill of Claxton; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Becky Boatright of Albany; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors on Monday from 10:00am until 11:00 am at Trinity Baptist Church in Nevils.
Funeral services will be at 11:00am with Rev. Joe Eason officiating, assisted by Rev. Kyle Oglesby.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Grady Aycock, Mike Williams, Josh Martin, Wayne Morgan, Dylan Clark and Mason Lariscy.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Roscoe Roberts Sunday School Class.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 1172 Nevils Denmark Road, Pembroke, Ga. 31321 or Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Ga. 30459.
The family will be at the home of Judy and Palmer White in Nevils, Georgia.
