LaRue Smith, 80, of Springfield died at 11:05 a.m. Friday at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born in Loami, the son of Frank and Eva Rowden Smith.
He married Elsie Buelter in 1931.
Preceding him in death was one sister, June Conover, in 1980.
Mr. Smith attended Third Presbyterian Church and was formerly employed at Sangamo Electric Company for 25 years.
Surviving are his wife, Elsie; three sons, Albert, Richard and Robert E., all of Springfield; three daughters, Mary Williams of Georgia, Betty Scott and Alice Copeland, both of Springfield; 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul of Kansas City, Kan., and Frank of Palmyra; one sister, Hazel Ewing of Springfield; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bisch Memorial Home, with the Rev. Milton Mosbacher officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
