Oil City Derrick, Nov 2015:

Janet L. McDonald, 82, of Reno, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born Sept. 1, 1933, in Jackson Township, Venango County, she was the daughter of Floyd H. and Bertha V. Hanks Karns.


On Dec. 15, 1973, she married Harold Richard McDonald, who died July 4, 2002.


She retired from the Oil City Hospital, where she worked for more than 35 years as the food supervisor. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles and reading. She was a kind and generous person who loved spending time with her friends and family, and her pet dog, "Missy."


Surviving are a son, two daughters, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; great-great-grandson, three brothers, two sisters, a sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Elsie Schoonover and Geraldine Karns; and her brother, Ralph "Buster" Karns.


Services will be at Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut St., Franklin, with her nephew, Father Christopher Barnes, officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
