Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Bettye A. “Gabby” Palmer, 84, at the Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer, LA on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Brian Thurman officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. till the service.

Bettye was born November 20, 1930 in Lake Charles, LA to John Henry and Gertrude Abrahams. She entered into rest on Sunday, November 8, 2015 in Homer, LA following a lengthy illness. Bettye was an elementary teacher for 36 years. She was an active member of her beloved First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. She was a co-founder of “Clothes, Etc” in Homer, LA, and spent hours in service to others in need. She also adored spending time with her family and friends, especially her dearest friend, Joy Hays. Her grandchildren thought she was the best “Gabby” ever.

Bettye was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband of 52 years, William C. “Bill” Palmer; 2 brothers, Bob Abrahams and Jim Abrahams; and 2 sisters, Edith Hoffpauir and Grace Burge.

She is survived by a son, Dr. Jim Palmer and wife Dottie; a daughter, Rhonda Porter and husband Greg: three grandchildren, Tiffany Porter Kirk, Will Palmer and wife Kendra, Lauren Olivier and husband Beau; 3 great-grandchildren, Devin, Bobbi Rae, and Palmer; 2 sisters, Alice Bertrand and husband Bill, Doris Strahan; 1 brother, Bill Abrahams and wife, Charli; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Porter, Greg Porter, Beau Olivier, Will Palmer, Raymond Winn, and, Mike Abrahams
