He was born May 14, 1928 in Galt, Missouri, to Archie Randall and Mary Frances (McBurney) Nichols.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean war.
Before his retirement he owned several grocery stores, including, Carthage, Missouri; and Lavaca, Mulberry, and West Fork, Arkansas.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Florence Richardson; a grandson, David Paul Nichols; and a step- granddaughter, Amy Denise Johns.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Juanita L. (Morrison) Nichols; three sons, Steve Nichols (and wife, Laura) of Van Buren, Arkansas, Dale Nichols (and wife, Valerie) of Springdale, Arkansas, and Bryan Nichols (and wife, Michelle) of The Woodlands, Texas; a daughter, Connie Johns (and husband, Mark) of Austin, Texas; ten grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
He was also survived by two brothers, Walter Nichols (and wife, Barbara) of Wellston, Oklahoma, and Melvin Nichols of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and two sisters, Helen Crain of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and Betty Meyer (and husband, Albert) of Borger, Texas.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, February 13, 2012 at Walker-.Brown Funeral Home in Bartlesville.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Walker-.Brown Funeral Home.
Burial at Nowata Memorial Cemetery.
