Betty Jean Meyer, 82, of Borger went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. After a long battle with cancer, Betty showed all who knew and loved her, what courage, hope and grace really are.
A celebration of her life will be on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 2pm in the First Baptist Church with Les Sharp, Pastor of Faith Covenant Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will receive guests Friday, February 7, 2014 from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
Betty was born February 14, 1931 in Holly, Colorado to Rev. Archie and Mary Nichols. She married her high school sweetheart Albert Meyer on February 27, 1949 at Shidler, Oklahoma. Betty was a Borger resident since 1950.
She worked at Jerry Keith Co. for 10 years, secretary at Keeler Baptist Church with five different pastors for 16 years. There she also ministered as nursery director and worker. Betty was an active member of First Baptist Church for 22 years. She loved her family and enjoyed the many family gatherings.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Paul Nichols and sister, Florence Richardson.
Survivors include her husband, Albert of the home; three daughters, Judy Brandon and her husband, David, Mary Morrow and her husband, Cody, Barbara Hernandez and her husband, Bob all of Borger; one son, Kenneth Meyer and his wife, Beth of Amarillo.
Betty had 11 grandchildren, Becky Brandon, Lori Brandon and her husband, Jeff, Dr. Alicia Brandon Swink and her husband, Eric, Chris Morrow and his wife, Aspen, Haley Morrow Wright and her husband, Eric, Nathan Meyer, Trevor Meyer, Colby Meyer and his wife, Jamie, Nick Hernandez and his wife, Natasha, Natalie Hernandez Salazar and her husband, Chris, Matt Hernandez and his wife, Kristen; and 19 great grandchildren; brothers, Walter Nichols of Wellston, Oklahoma, Melvin Nichols of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; sister, Helen Crane of Wichita, Kansas; and sister-in-law, Juanita Nichols of Ft. Smith, Arkansas.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Odyssey Hospice.
