Elizabeth Lacy was born in Dublin, Ireland about 1828. Her father Digman Lacey was a ship captain. She met and married a young Italian seaman named Simon Natal Arrigoni. She traveled by ship to San Francisco, crossing the Isthmus of Panama on a mule, to meet her seafaring husband. They lived in San Francisco for a time. In the late 1850s, with three children, they moved to Portland where Mr. Arrigoni built a hotel.

In 1860 Simon and Elizabeth were living in Portland where they were keeping a hotel. They had twin daughters, Emily and Frances, age 5, Simon, age 2, and Henry, 3 months old. The Oregon Biographical Index Card File reflects that son Henry Graceious Arrigoni died on August 30, 1861, in Portland, at the age of 1 year, 6 months. It further reflects that another son, Matthew Gardner Arrigoni was born in 1962, and that he died on August 10, 1864, in Portland. A daughter Mary Italia Arrigoni was born in 1966. About 1872, another daughter was born into the family, Ida Italy Arrigoni. Mr. Arrigoni passed away in June of 1876. Elizabeth continued to keep the hotel in Astoria, remaining there in 1880 with her five children.

In December of 1881 daughter Frances Arrigoni married Daniel John McVicar. Frances and Daniel had at least two daughters. Emily McVicar was born about 1881 and married Charles Ericson. Tessie was born about 1891. Daniel McVicar was a Bar Pilot on the Columbia River. He passed away in 1912. Frances passed away in 1939.

About 1882 daughter Emily J. Arrigoni married Marshall Dutch Staples. Emily and Dutch had a daughter Elizabeth born in 1883, and a son Clifford born in 1886. Marshall Staples was a Bar Pilot on the Columbia River.

The Morning Oregonian Newspaper reported on September 16, 1888, that Theresa E. Arrigoni, daughter of Mrs. S. N. Arrigoni, married A. C. Wilkinson.

In 1900 daughters Frances and Emily were both living in Astoria, as neighbors, with their respective families.

Son Simon Joseph Arrigoni was a fireman in Astoria. When he passed away in 1936, at the age of 78, he had been a fireman for 40 years.

In 1900 Elizabeth Arrigoni was keeping a rooming house in Portland. Daughter Theresa was living there with her. Theresa’s name was Ordway and she was listed as a widow.
