Jeremiah Osborn who married Mary Newman.
father was Jeremiah Osborne, Jr. of Morris County New Jersey whose father Jeremiah Osborne, Sr. gave a deposition in the famous New Jersey Colonial Supreme Court Case of Cooper vs Crane in 1741.
Jeremiah Osborne, Sr. has participated as a child with his father Stephen Osborne and uncles Jeremiah Osborne and Joseph Osborne in the purchase of the Elizabethtown Grants from the Indians in New Jersey.
His father and uncles had come from East Hampton Long Island to take part in the purchase of about 5 counties of present day New Jersey from the Indians with the blessing of the Colonial Governor representing the King.
Later with a new King and new Governors those land titles were challenged and remained in limbo for perhaps decades. The people whose land titles were challenged became known as the "Tinkers Rights Men".
Because of the uncertainty of the land titles many of the New Jersey Osbornes and their allied families and neighbors moved into western Virginia and the Carolinas
