"Ellen Johanna (Groneng) Vincent, 97, died peacefully on Oct. 29, 2015, in Hearthstone at New Horizons, Marlborough. She was the wife of 50 years to John J. (Jack) Vincent, who died in 1996. Born in Concord, she was the daughter of Norwegian immigrants, Olaf and Kristine (Nilsen) Groneng. She lived in West Concord, Sudbury, Maynard, Acton, Stow for 52 years, and Marlborough. Ellen graduated from Concord High School and worked as a housekeeper for some time. She loved raising her family and she and Jack warmly welcomed all to their home in Stow. She also worked at Victory Supermarket part-time, and then full time at Digital Equipment Corp. for many years, starting in production and eventually becoming a secretary. She retired in 1983. Her hobbies included ceramics, bowling, sewing, knitting and crocheting. Ellen is survived by her children, Carol L. McPhee of Hudson; John H. Vincent and his wife, Joan, of Hudson; and David E. Vincent and his wife, Helen, of Shirley; her dear niece and her husband, Beverly and Fred Haefner of Maynard; her grandson, Brian S. McPhee, and granddaughters Lisa Comeau, Cheryl OLeary, Sara Davies, Catherine Lukas and Elizabeth Vincent; 5 great-grandsons Cory and John Comeau, and Keaghan, Teague and Brody O'Leary; niece, Patricia LaValley and nephews Paul and Wayne Hampson; a dear family friend, Thomas Morgan, of Hudson; former son-in-law William J. McPhee of Winchendon, former daughter-in-law Maureen Ferguson of New Hampshire; and many great, and great-great nephews and nieces. Besides her husband, Jack, and parents, Ellen was predeceased by her husband, Edward Andersen; her sister, Clara Peters; her grandson, William J. McPhee, Jr. and an infant great-grandson. Arrangements are under the direction of Acton Funeral Home. There will be no calling hours per Ellens request. Her family plans a memorial celebration of her life and burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in the spring. An announcement will be released then. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to a favorite charity."
