As a child of the depression, Eldon learned how to work hard with his family on their sheep ranch. He graduated from AF High in 1940, attended USU for a year and then married his high school sweetheart Catherine Lee on Oct 28, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. Two months later, he was called into the service to defend our country with the 670th Airborne Division during World War II. He spent three years in the South Pacific Theatre.
Upon returning home, he was employed with Geneva Steel and retired after 38 years of service. He built the couple's first home in American Fork. Soon he was a father of two children, Larry Eldon and Connie Lee. He enjoyed working with the scouts, boating and traveling with his family. An avid gardener, his beautiful yard always had the first green lawn and the first flowers to bloom in the spring. He is survived by his beloved wife Catherine, his brother Kenneth and children Larry (Becky) and Connie. He has 5 grandsons and six great-grandchildren.
Eldon was well loved and will be missed by us all. He was predeceased by his mother and father; 9 brothers and sisters. A viewing will be held from 9:30AM to 10:45AM on Wednesday August 23, 2006 at Anderson & Sons Mortuary in American Fork. Graveside services will be held following the viewing at the American Fork Cemetery at 11:00 AM. Condolences may be sent to andersonmortuary.com.
