Eliza Jane (Curry) Marshall is the daughter of Matthew and Jane Curry. Her father immigrated from Ireland, and settled in Pennsylvania before moving to Hancock County, Illinois, in 1852. She married James Thomas Crawford Marshall on February 13, 1865. They farmed in Carthage Township, Hancock County, Illinois until their deaths, raising a family of 10 children, one of whom died as an infant. There is a known discrepancy between her birth and death dates as given in her obituary and census data and those listed on the tombstone which was set many years after her death.
