Roy N. Friedersdorf, 80, R.R.1, Elizabethtown, a well-known farmer, died Wednesday evening at 11:24 p.m. in the Bartholomew County Hospital. He had not been ill and his death was unexpected.
Mr. Friedersdorf was born April 2, 1901, at his present residence, the son of Lewis and Lillie Davis Friedersdorf. He farmed in Bartholomew and Decatur Counties all his life, and had been associated with the Pioneer Seed Corn Co. since 1939, and was their oldest living salesman.
He was a member of the Grammer Presbyterian Church, but attended the Sardinia Baptist Church for many years, where he was very active. He was a member of the Alert Masonic Lodge No. 395 and of the Bartholomew County Farm Bureau for many years.
He was married to Mildred O'Neal Sept. 10, 1919, at Jeffersonville, and she survives, with four children: Robert R. Friedersdorf, R.R.2, Westport, Mrs. John M. (AnnaBelle) Evans, R.R.5, Greensburg, Mrs. Deloss (Roselyn) Call, Scottsdale, Ariz. and Mrs. Wayne (Carolyn) Meyer, Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers: Harold Friedersdorf, R.R.1, Elizabethtown, and John L. Friedersdorf, R.R.3, Franklin; and one sister, Mrs. Nellie Glick.
The services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Sardinia Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Armstrong of the First Christian Church of Columbus and the Rev. Bryan Hamilton officiating, and with burial in the Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus. Friends may call at the Bass Funeral Home in Westport after 2 p.m. Friday and at the church after 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Memorials may be given to the Grammer Presbyterian Church or to the Sardinia Baptist Church.
