Donald E. Gilmore, 82, of Waverly, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, October 31, 2015. He was born January 6, 1933 in Lucasville, Ohio, son of the late Edward Milton and Edrie J. Trusty Gilmore. On July 1, 1950, Don was united in marriage to Maureen Patrick Gilmore who survives. Also surviving is a son of St. Augustine, Florida; a daughter and husband of Dublin, Ohio and a granddaughter and husband, as well as two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a grandson, Shane Patrick McNelly; two brothers, Gerald Rudy and Jack Allen Gilmore and three sisters, Beulah Brandt, Kathryn Smith and Elaine Cutlip Cline.
Don was a retired operator with Martin Marietta for 42 years, an avid golfer, 4-H advisor, softball coach, and a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Piketon, serving as a Deacon, a Trustee, working with Carpenters For Christ, and many other ministries of the church.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday November 4, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church in Piketon, with Pastor Jon Black officiating. Burial will follow in Bailey Chapel Cemetery, Piketon. Friends may call at the Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
