Mrs. Permelia Slayton, widow of the late James B. Slayton, died at her home on South Main street this village early last Thursday morning, August 17, 1905, of infirmities incident to old age.
Mrs. Slayton was born in Genesee County 79 years ago, but for three years more than half a century she has been a resident of Cohocton.
She was married 61 years ago to James B. Slayton, who died a few years since.
Eight children are left, all grown to manhood and womanhood, viz: E.C. Slayton, Savona; C.W. Slayton, Naples; Geo. D. and Bion E. Slayton of Cohocton; Mrs. C.B. Arnold of Naples; Mrs. R.W. Crouch and Mrs. L.A. Fairbrother, Cohocton; Mrs. E. Reid, Boston.
Mrs. Slayton was a very estimable woman and well thought of by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.
The funeral was held from the house on Saturday afternoon, Revs. Morgan and Brettle conducting the service. Interment in Maple View Cemetery.
