I have been interested in my own family genealogy for many years, and have enjoyed helping others along the way. I really enjoy finding, photographing, and transcribing stones for my fellow members here at findagrave. I have found the information beneficial in my own research, and I know just getting it out there where someone can find it if they need it can break down others' research walls. Best of luck to you all! Let me know if we can help.
An update as we approach 3 years as members: We are fueled and motivated by your gratitude! Some requests are simple; the cemetery is nearby, we have a map or contact there, and it is easy to deliver a photo. Others are not; the cemetery is far away, unattended and not maintained, the stones are overgrown with moss and difficult to find. While the thrill of the hunt gets us part of the way, a polite thank you, maybe a hint at how your research is going, helps build a connection and motivates us to help you and others.
