Lottie was the fourth child born into her family. Soon after her birth, they moved from Ohio to Linn County, Iowa where her grandparents, uncles and aunts had moved in 1854.
On January 17, 1883, Lottie married Charles Hoagland who worked on the railroad as a switchman and then conductor. Three children were born to the couple.
In 1910, they were living in Davenport, Scott County, Iowa.
By 1920, they had moved to Kansas City, Jackson County, MO.
All three children died as young adults and Charles preceded Lottie in death. She died in a convalescent hospital.
