K.C. graduated from Drumright High School in 1949. He was a resident of Nowata, Oklahoma, before moving to Oklahoma City in 1961. He was a truck driver for the Choctaw Express in Oklahoma City. K.C. was united in marriage to E. Wood on June 13, 1998 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. K.C. was an active member of the Hillcrest Christian Church. He was a Mason for 47 years, being a past master of the Sunset Lodge #57 in Nowata, Oklahoma in 1956, and a past master of Siloam Lodge #276 from 1981 until his death. K.C. was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was also an Eagle Scout and coached baseball.
Survivors include his wife, E. of the home in Oklahoma City; one son, J. Hammond and his wife of Oklahoma City; two daughters, L. Barger and her husband of Bethany, OK, M. Johnson and her husband, Dr. J. Johnson of Fayetteville, Arkansas; one sister, D. Romack and her husband of Richmond Hill, Georgia; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his uncle, P. Hammond of Oklahoma City; his aunt and uncle, R. and J. Arnot of Oklahoma City; one step-son, S. Wood and his wife of Oklahoma; and one step-daughter, T. Shores and her husband of Ft. Worth, TX.
His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don E. Hammond preceded him in death.
Funeral services for K.C. will begin at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2000, in the Hillcrest Christian Church, 1501 S.W. 59th Street, Oklahoma City, with his uncle, Mr. J. Arnot and Pastor Tom Harrison officiating. Burial will conclude in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
