Charlotte Mae Sheets Freeman, 92, died on Tuesday, October 27, 2015. She was born October 1, 1923, in Augusta County, Virginia, daughter of the late Bernard Evans and Anna Pearl Wenger Sheets.
As a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Charlotte devoted her life to serving her Lord and Savior and sharing His love with everyone she knew. Teaching music and art for over 30 years, and serving as a faithful member of Crossroads Baptist Church, she touched many lives with her sweet spirit, beautiful voice, and incredible artwork.
On August 2, 1952, she married Bruce Glenn Freeman Jr., who preceded her in death on July 18, 2007.
Mrs. Freeman is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Freeman Whitmore and husband, Terry Lee Whitmore, of Harrisonburg; a son, Bruce G. Freeman III and wife, Cindy Michael Freeman, of Winston- Salem, N.C.; two granddaughters, Marsha Freeman Thompson and husband, Josh, and Mandy Freeman; two great-grandchildren, Aaron Michael and Anna Page Thompson, all of North Carolina; two sisters, Beulah Root and husband, John, of Mount Sidney and Lois Gwin of Churchville; a sister-in-law, Barbara Simmons from Florida; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Laura Kessel and Evelyn Todd; two brothers, Joe and Claude Sheets.
The family will receive friends 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2015, at Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church, Mount Sidney, with a service to celebrate her life at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Heath Spivey officiating. Private burial will be held earlier in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Arts Council of the Valley, 311 S. Main St., Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
