Charles Lowry was the son of Mark and Margaret Barger Lowrey of White Co., Tn. The spelling of the last name in this family is problematic as refelected in the census records and tombstone records. Charles Lowry is the spelling used on his tombstone.

On 18 June 1844, Charles Lowrey married Catherine "Kitty" Hudgens, daughter of James Hudgens and his wife, Mary "Polly" Hunter, a niece of Daniel Boone.
The children of known Charles Lowrey and Kitty Hudgens were:
- Mary Lowrey
- David Crockett Lowrey
- infant child

Charles Lowrey (Lowry or Lowery) is placed in this cemetery based upon information provided by Jane Gray Buchanan, and found in the book, "Heritage of White County 1806-1999." There it states, "Both she (Catherine "Kitty" Hudgens) and her husband (Charles Lowrey) are buried in the Hudgens-Swift cemetery, Bear Cove."
His biography from this same source is included: "Charles Lowrey (Lowery), farmer-stockman residing in Bear Cove, about four miles east of Sparta was born May 10, 1820 to Mark Lowrey (1791-1879) and his wife, Margaret Barger (1791-1853). He was grandson of Alexander Lowrey."

It continues, "In the early years of their marriage, Charles and Kitty lived with her father in a large two-story brick house built years before by the Hudgens men. Charles died at age 64 in 1884, but Kitty lived to be almost 94 years old, the eldest member of the Sparta Church of Christ at that time....."

A different entry in this same source gives a different birth date for his wife, 20 Nov 1825, and spells her first name as Katherine. In this entry the cemetery is listed as Lowrey family cemetery. It states, "He (Charles Lowrey) was a partner of Barlow Fisk and Daniel Clark in developing the road from Rockwood."

Charles Lowrey is found in the following US Federal Census records:
- 1850 for White Co., Tn with his wife, Catherine "Kitty" Hudgens, and their two children, Mary and Crockett, listed as Charles Lowrey
- 1870 for White Co., Tn with his wife and son, occupation farmer, listed as Charles Lowrey
