Another very respected pioneer of Hope Township passed peacefully away on Friday, July 3, in the person of Charles Dean. Deceased came from Armagh County, Ireland with his parents when but a child and settled in the neighborhood where he has resided ever since. In 1859 he married Margaret J. Lucas, who died seven ago at the age of 58 years,. Seven daughters and two sons were born to them, two children dying when infants. The eldest daughter, Mary, was called away in 1892 at the age of 32 years. Only 5 months ago the third daughter, Carrie, was suddenly attacked with pneumonia and passed to her heavenly rest. Deceased mourned the loss of this beloved daughter very deeply and ever since has been in failing health till on Friday last he passed away at the age of 78 years. Two sons and four daughters remain to morn the loss of a dearly beloved father.
Many friends from a distance came to pay their last respects them being his sister, Mrs. Wm. Leith, of Orillia. a cousin, Mrs. J. Ellis, Lindsay, Mr. R. Lucas, Berlin, Wisconsin and others.
The funeral was largely attended , the internment taking place in St. Paul's Cemetery, Perrytown. The pall-bearers were: - Messrs. R. McKeown, R. Maize, R. Leith, J.C. Gray, A. Beatty and A. Hermill.
