From Emmons County Recorder, 22 December 1910: "Pollock Progress: Mrs. John Powers, formerly of Glanavon, died at her home at Thunderhawk, S. D., on Tuesday, Dec. 6th, and was buried at Fort Yates last Friday. Mrs. Powers was truly a pioneer lady of Dakota, and during her long life was loved and respected by all who knew her. The cause of death was tuberculosis."
