"War of 1812" ∼William was one of five known children of Joshua Spain and Elizabeth Eppes. He was born circa 1785 in Virginia. He was a farmer and married Mary Cole in Virginia. They removed with their children to Champaign County, Ohio about 1820. They had twelve known children; at least six of their sons served in the Civil War.
