Nila was a secretary in the Radio and Television Department at Indiana University. She was a member of the First United Church for 59 years and a member of the Indiana University Women's Golf League. She enjoyed golf, euchre and pinochle.
Survivors include three sons, Don, Terry and Gary; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grand-children, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles; two sisters, Violet Bird and Mildred Stader; two brothers, Merlin and Charles Bates.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 11, and noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dr. Jack Skiles officiating. Memorial contributions may be made the American Lung Association.
