Another early spelling of Henry's last name was Esensa. He arrived in America by way of Quebec as a Hessian cavalry soldier, captured by General John Stark at Bennington, Vermont. As a prisoner, he apparently changed his allegiance and according to Sibley's "History of the Town of Union, Maine" p. 449 was under the command of Capt. Schenck in Waldoboro, Maine. When the American Revolution was over he cleared land in Sterlington, which became Union, moved on to the town of Hope, back to Union and ended his years in Appleton.

Henry and his wife referred to as Susannah, had their first five children in Barrettstown (incorporated as Hope in 1804); the remaining five were born in Union.

From "History of Burkettville" by Elmer Light and edited by Royce W. Miller, 1996 the following were Henry & Susannah's children:
1. Margaret [Margret; Peggy], born August 26, 1790 married John Stanley
2. Nancy, born Dec, 7, 1792
3. Charles, born October 22, 1794, married Sally Overlook
4. Susannah, born Nov. 22, 1796 married Peleg House, resided in Liberty.
