Teresa Coleman, 89, of Effingham, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Lakeland Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Effingham.

Teresa was born on December 10, 1925, in St. Marie, Il, the daughter of Alphonsus Benjamin and Helena (Hemrich) Moran. Teresa married Louis R Brown of St. Louis, Mo, in December 1946. He died in July 1953. They were parents of one son, William L. Brown. She then married James E. Coleman of Findlay, Il, in June 1955. Jim died on November 1, 2014.
She graduated from DePaul Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis in 1946 and was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps during WWII. She was an active Registered Nurse for 42 years and retired in 1989.
Teresa was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Heart C.C.W. Retired Nurses Group, and voulunteered with Effingham County FISH Organization, Catholic Charities, and The Cross. She was a 4-H Leader for seven years. She and her husband, James, owned and operated Slate Creek Ranch in rural Effingham for 58 years.
Teresa is survived by her son, William L. "Bill" (Mary Ann) Brown of Munford, TN; daughters, Carol (Scott) Stilliman of Springfield and Jane (David) Finley of Effingham; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; step-daughter, Susan Grandfield; 9 brothers; and 4 sisters.
