Born June 29, 1927 in Bloomfield, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late William Duncan and Virgil (Humes) Duncan. She was a homemaker. She was a member of New Salem First Church of God. She had been a resident of Washington County since 1940, formerly of Nelson County Kentucky. She married April 24, 1948 to Houston Burns, who died July 10, 2009.
Survivors include three daughters, Teresa Loughran, Kalen Shields both of Salem and Kim Doane of Pekin; seven sons, Tony Burns, Larry Burns, Jerry Burns, Timmy Burns Sr., Michael Burns, Kevin Burns and Monte Burns, all of Salem; sisters, Barbara Kilburn, Atlanta, Georgia and Joyce Powell, Memphis, Indiana.
She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 am Friday at Dawalt Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Berry officiating. Visitation hours from 4 to 8 pm Thursday and 9 to 11 am Friday at Dawalt Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Salem.
