Stephen Fellows, Christian, son of Stephen and Mary (Emery) Fellows, was born September 16, 1815. Preparatory studies at Franklin Academy. Student for a time in the Genesee (NY) Wesleyan College. Licensed to preach by the Western New York Conference. Teacher in the school for the education of teachers, Ogden, NY, 1837. Supplied the Independent Congregational Church there, 1837-9. Ordained an evangelist, Bruce, Macomb County, Michigan., November 17, 1839. Itinerant missionary, Michigan, building seven or eight churches, 1839-42. Pastor, Unitarian Church, Fair Haven, MA, 1842-4; Lima, NY, 1844-6. Went South, 1846. Returning, gathered a church at Peapack, NJ, and Freehold, NJ, 1847. Pastor, New York City, 1847-9, and Fall River, MA, 1849-54. Supplied Swanzey, MA, 1854-56, and New Bedford, MA, 1856-7, with residence at Fall River, MA. Without charge there, and at "Touissette Farm," Warren, RI, 1857-87. Died there May 20, 1887. Married Lydia Petree, daughter of J Mace Smith of Fall River, MA, May 13, 1847.
