Mrs. Annie Archer Brantley, resident of Lake Cormorant, Miss., since 1903, died at 8:30 yesterday morning at St. Joseph Hospital. She was 84. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at National Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Poole of Lake Cormorant and the Rev. Oscar Dowele of Tunica, Miss., officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood. Mrs. Brantley had been ill about seven months. She was the widow of John Charles Brantley, Sr., Lake Cormorant planter. Her father was Abraham Barnes Archer Sr., planter and developer of Cruger, Miss. She was born at Marksville, Miss., near Cruger, and moved to Lake Cormorant after living several months in Memphis. She was a member of Lake Cormorant Methodist Church. Despite her age, Mrs. Brantley had maintained a keen interest in community, state and world affairs. One of her hobbies was crocheting. She leaves four daughters, Mrs. Huldah Phillips and Mrs. Florence Middleton of Lake Cormorant, Mrs. Elizabeth McIngvale of Memphis and Mrs. Louise Oursler of Greenville, Miss.; a son, A.B. Brantley of Lake Cormorant; two sisters, Mrs. Tom Turner of Ridgeland, Miss., and Mrs. Mary Archer Smith of Greenwood, and 13 grandchildren.
