JUDGE DEVINE LAID TO REST
The body of Judge James Devine was laid to rest this afternoon in the St. Thomas Cemetery with military honors. A large number of old friends were in the funeral cortege but the services in the undertaking parlors were private.
A guard of honor from the Spanish War Veterans accompained the body and fired a parting salute to their dead comrade and the ceremony closed with "taps" by the bugler. The Knights of Pythias ceremony was also said at the grave and Rev. Bellam of Sparks said prayer.
Judge Devine died last Tuesday after a lingering illness of six months. He was Justice of the Peace of Sparks, for two terms and the judge elect for this term. He was also at one time the chief of police and very well known in the county where he was born and has lived all his life.
