Rev. Ebenezer Bushnell D.D. was Pastor of the Fremont Presbyterian Church beginning 1857.

In 1850, he married Julia A. Baldwin, and had four children. After Julia's passing, he married Cornelia K. Woodruff in 1858.They had three children.

In addition to his Pastoral work, Mr. Bushnell was Superintendent of the City Public Schools from 1860-1863. He also served as Secretary of the Synod of Toledo for more than a decade, and was a Member of The Board of Trustees of Western Reserve College for more than two decades.

During the War, Dr. Bushnell was active in encouraging enlistment, and labored in the cause of the Union.

Mr. Bushnell was considered the most scholarly clergyman in the city of his time. He had a special aptitude in mathematics, and languages. Particularly, German, Latin, and Greek.

In 1871, Marietta College conferred upon him the Degree of Doctor of Divinity.

Due to his early years in mechanical training, several Fremont buildings were erected under his supervision.
