Army of the United States BILLY R LANEY is on the Wall at Panel 21E, Line 48 Laney became missing in action on June 3, 1967, about a month after he arrived in Vietnam. He was on a CH-46A helicopter that had picked up him and other soldiers on a mission in Laos. The helicopter came under extensive automatic small arms fire and crashed about 1,155 feet from the landing zone.
Laney was listed as missing in action until the Department of Defense declared him dead in 1978.
Laney's remains were found in Laos in a mass grave with three U.S. Marines and several South Vietnamese soldiers. LANEY, BILLY RAY
