Clyde was born in Claremore, Oklahoma Indian Territory and raised there after Statehood. He was the 5th child born to Alma (née Parrish) Bunn and William H. Bunn. At the 1910 Census the family were living at 703 Seminole Avenue, in Claremore. His mother died when he was 8 years old in early 1911. He worked most of his life in the oil fields of Oklahoma and Kansas. On May 15 1935 he married Erma Achilles from the Inman, KS area. Together they raised their one child, Russell. They considered themselves members of the Haven and Burrton communities, and lived their married life in the rural areas near to the oil rigs and agricultural fields. In about 1967 Clyde retired as an oil field pumper from Home Stake Oil and Gas Company near Haven, KS. He died during his second surgery in the Hutchinson Hospital, due to complications of the previous surgery. He was always good humored and enjoyed story telling and political banter.

This research could not find any reference to a church membership or Christian baptism.
