Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. Services will be at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, October 18, 2015, in the Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with committal services following in Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery.
Frieda was born in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Claude A. Waldrop, Sr. and Roberta Barlar Waldrop. Frieda met her husband, Lawrence C. Cummings, in a business law class in Tennessee and they were later married in Mississippi. Afterward Lawrence served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force and together they traveled and lived all over the United States with their daughters. She loved sharing stories with her family and friends about living in Tennessee, Missouri, Minnesota, Alaska, New York, and Texas.
Frieda had strong unwavering faith, was dedicated to the church as a member, and to her long employment as secretary/bookkeeper at University Avenue Church of Christ. She was always helping others, very generous and loving, and was extremely devoted to her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Lawrence C. Cummings; daughter, Patricia Cummings Perkins; and brothers, Claude A. Waldrop Jr. and Rayburn Waldrop and his wife, Betty; Martha Waldrop Babb.
Survivors include her daughters, Jenny Nickels and her husband, Eddie, of Pflugerville, and Linda C. Grant, of Reading, PA; grandchildren: Helen Cionni and her husband, Robert, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Dr. Jon Grant and his wife, Kristen, of Arlington, WA, Amy R. Grant, of Austin, Brant Sibert, of Georgetown, Christopher Nickels and his wife, Liz, of Hutto, John David Nickels, of Hutto, Scott Nickels, of Pflugerville, and Dianna Perkins, of CO; great-grandchildren: Jade Nickels, Jackson, and Aiden Grant; niece, Frieda W. Dale, of Oak Ridge, TN; and other relatives and many friends. H20
