GRAPEVINE --
Thomas S. Ashcraft, 76, of Grapevine, died Sunday at Sheridan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Dec. 25, 1926, at Sheridan, a son of the late Hollis Delmon Ashcraft and Mable Fielding Ashcraft Plunkett.
He served in the Army during World War II.
He retired from the Cotton Belt Railroad in 1988 after 35 years of service as a storeroom clerk.
He was a deacon and member of the Sardis Missionary Baptist Church at Grapevine.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Hollis Ashcraft Jr.; one stepbrother, O.T. Plunkett; one grandson; and his stepfather, J.A. Plunkett.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Laveta Plunkett Ashcraft; three sons, Kenny Ashcraft of Grapevine and Tommy Ashcraft and Steven Ashcraft, both of Grapevine; one daughter, Betty Clark of Sheridan; one brother, Harold Ashcraft of Grapevine; one sister, Audra Clement of Grapevine; two stepbrothers, Havis Plunkett and J.E. Plunkett, both of Grapevine; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sardis Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Ronald Young, O.J. Ramick and Curtis Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Ain Cemetery at Grapevine by Memorial Gardens Funeral Home at Sheridan.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
