Lexington, Mo., Jan. 15.--Charles L. Ewing died here Saturday after an illness of ten days of pneumonia. His funeral will take place at Mount Hebron church, near Mayview, Monday morning at 11 o'clock.
He had just finished four years' term as circuit clerk of Lafayette county. In 1876 he represented this county in the state legislature, where he served as chairman of the committee on roads and highways. He was born in Todd County, Kentucky, May 10, 1827. He served in the war with Mexico, and was engaged in the battle of Buena Vista. He also engaged in the war of 1861, siding with the south, being first lieutenant of Weightman's brigade, M.S.G. He enjoyed every confidence of the people of this county as an honorable, high minded gentleman of influence and integrity.
