Edith Baskette married first Dr. John D. Mulheron on 7 May 1904, in Davidson County, Tennessee. He died suddenly in Brownsville, Tennessee. A newspaper account of his death stated that he did not practice medicine, but instead used his degree toward pharmaceutical sales.
Edith Baskette Mulheron married next Don Farnsworth on 30 Jun 1908, in Chicago, Illinois. Farnsworth was apparently a Tennessee native active in national politics.
Weeks after their marriage, Mrs. Farnsworth developed a small blood clot in her brain, attributed to the altitude during their honeymoon trip to Denver, where Farnsworth was assisting Charles Towne in his bid for the Vice-Presidency.
Specialists at Baptist Hospital in Chicago determined that it would be useless to operate, since they would be unable to find the clot. Mrs. Farnsworth, soon unable to speak, communicated her final greetings and wishes by writing. She wrote that she hoped to live until her father arrived from Nashville, but was unable to do so.
The notice of her illness and death stated that she was likely to be buried at her father's home after the private services there, but death and cemetery records indicate otherwise. Mrs. Farnsworth's body was placed in a vault at Graceland in Chicago, from whence Illinois records indicate its transferral to Nashville on 5 Nov 1908. She was reinterred in the Baskette-DuVal family plot on 15 Nov 1908.
While listed and located on the cemetery's burial records, Mrs. Farnsworth had no marker in the family plot as of a 12 Oct 2015 visit.
