FINZEL — Richard Roosevelt Pape , 86, of Finzel, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home, Frostburg.

Born July 2, 1929, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late William Roosevelt and Mae E. (Brode) Pape. He was also preceded in death by one son-in-law, Bernard Minnick; one great-grandson, Axel; one brother, Karl Pape and three sisters, Mildred Brunkman, Delores Smith and JoAnn Pape .

Mr. Pape was a Carman at Chessie for 43 years and attended Emmanuel United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Salisbury-Elk Lick Trap League and the NRA.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Catherine (McKenzie) Pape ; three daughters, Karen Minnick Leggett and husband, Lonnie, Boonsboro, Donna ( Pape ) Lancaster and husband, George, Lancaster, Pa., Christy Pape and companion, Wayne Resh, Grantsville; three sisters, Betty Davis and Janice Boch, both of Frostburg, Patricia Speir, Loartown; six grandchildren, Lori Schafer and husband, Donnie, Stacey Blubaugh and husband, John, Jody Rizer and husband, Roger, Richard Pape and companion, Teri, who was raised by Richard and Charlotte and whom he considered his parents, Garrett Minnick and fiancé, Cait, Samantha Schurg and companion, Jeremy; eight great-grandchildren, Leaha, Wesley, Emily, Colin, Grady, DJ, Landon and Lexxie and special boys, Evan and Owen.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Thursday, Oct. 1., 2015, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the Emmanuel United Methodist Church on Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Daniel Agnew officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services.

Interment will be in the Emmanuel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Richard Pape , Lonnie Leggett, Richard Davis, John Blubaugh, Wesley Minnick and Garrett Minnick. Honorary pallbearers will be George Lancaster, Wayne Resh, Donnie Schafer and Roger Rizer.

Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
