Bobby Gene McDaniel, 81, a resident of Thomasville passed away Saturday, October, 10, 2015 at his residence.
Mr. McDaniel was born February 14, 1934 in Davidson County to Walter David and Gladys Reece McDaniel.
He was a veteran of the US Army and was stationed in Germany. Mr. McDaniel retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries, Plant C, after 37 years of service where he worked as a supervisor. He also worked for the Rescue Squad for many years. On April 27, 1956 he married Betty Lee. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to watch his grandchildren play sports. He also loved to travel with his wife when they were able. Mr. McDaniel was a member of Oak Hill Memorial Baptist Church for 75 years, where he served as a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 57 years, Betty Lee McDaniel, who preceded him on June 28, 2013; and two brothers, Frankie McDaniel and Donald McDaniel.
Mr. McDaniel is survived by two sons, Mark McDaniel of Thomasville and Tim McDaniel and wife Rose of Thomasville; two daughters, Deborah McDaniel Castro and husband Joel of Cameron, NC and Tammy McDaniel Grubb of Thomasville; one brother, Walter McDaniel Jr. and wife Judy of Thomasville; two sisters-in-law, Martha McDaniel of Thomasville and Scarlette McDaniel of Thomasville; four grandchildren, Allen Grubb, Ashley Grubb, Patrick Murray, Miguel Castro, Jose Castro, and Timothy McDaniel; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 11AM at Oak Hill Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Myers officiating. Internment will follow the service in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
