Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 15, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church.
Lois was born on January 5, 1930, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Eugene and Elsie Hanssen Bufe. She married Louis Franks on August 24, 1951, in Moline, IL, and he preceded her in death on January 21, 1993. She worked in the office for Deere & Co. and later in the cafeteria for Moline schools.
Lois was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Women’s Society and served as President and held several other offices. She was very devoted to the church and their yearly flea markets where her famous Maid-Rites sold out every year.
In her younger years, she was a Cub Scout Leader. She was outdoorsy and loved camping, fishing, gardening, boating, tending to her vegetable garden, and making pickles and grape jelly. She enjoyed embroidery and sewing. Lois went dancing every Friday night with her husband and loved to bowl on co-ed and ladies league.
Every year, Lois loved making Christmas cookies and celebrating holidays with her entire family. She loved playing with her grandchildren and more than anything, her wish was for her entire family to know that they are loved.
Survivors include her children, Steven (Sheree) Franks, Moline, IL, Donald Franks, Moline, IL, Laura (David) Linville, Colona, IL, and Charles (Beth) Franks, Rock Island, IL; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Ronald (Helen) Bufe, Jacksonville, FL; many nieces and nephews.
