Catherine A. Schmidt (nee Falkenstein), 98, went to be with the Lord on July 9, 2010 following an extended illness, while living in Texas.

Catherine was a loving, devoted mother and had a love of children, animals, sewing, cooking, crocheting, crafts, and flowers. She was a long time member of St. Mary's Parish.

Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Jacob P. Schmidt, Sr. and her parents, George and Mary Falkenstein, she is survived by son, Jacob P. Schmidt, Jr. of Houston, Texas; daughters, Kathlyn Mathis of Montgomery, Texas, and Mary Ann (Jim) Beeson of Clemmons, N.C.; sisters, Christine (Joe) Koberlein of Akron, and Irene Caccavale of Florida; brothers, John Falkenstein of Akron and George Falkenstein, of New Jersey; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernard-St. Mary Catholic Church (formerly St. Bernard's). Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery.
