Funeral services for Harris L. Giese, of Davenport, will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport, at which time Davenport Lodge 37 also will conduct services. Cremation will follow the services. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. today at the mortuary. Mr. Giese passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, June 1, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. He was a partner in the Iowa-Illinois Tire Co. in Davenport for many years prior to his retirement. He was later employed by Flynn Beverage, Davenport. He was born July 6, 1932, in Wilton, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Auguste (Dohrmund) Giese. He married Jacqueline Harding in Wilton. He later married Marcella Jones on March 5, 1965, in Aledo, Ill. He served in the Army. He was a member of Davenport Lodge 37 AF&AM Davenport Consistory, Mohassan Grotto and Firebugs and KAABA Shrine and Shrine Greeters. He enjoyed life to the fullest: boating, playing guitar in local bands for many years, listening to his jukebox and doing yard work. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Marisa and Dayton Layne, and Vicky Giese; son and daughters-in-law, Gary and Karen Giese, and Julie Giese; grandchildren, Hunter Layne, Jason Giese, Rebecca Powers and Rene Schroeder; sisters, Hilda Stoelk, Viola Hull, Nancy Hammerich and Linda Zurmiller; brothers, Arthur Giese, Kenny Lincoln and LeRoy Giese; and a special friend, Angela Franco, along with special friends, Kenny and Frannie Grubbs. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella, in 1994; a son, Mark, in 1998; his parents; and a brother, Elwood. We will hold them forever in our hearts.
