Albert Heiken Buried Sunday Farmed In Castle Grove Many Years.
The death of I. A. Heiken, 73, occurred at his home in Monticello April 14 at 2:30 a.m. He had been in failing health for the past five years. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, April 16, at St. Matthew's Lutheran church, the Rev. H. L. Adix officiating.
Interment was at Oakwood cemetery.
Mr. Heiken was born Feb. 13, 1871 in Castle Grove township, a son of J. H. and Maria Heiken. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and remained a member of the Lutheran church his entire life.
On March 9, 1898 he was united in marriage to Elise Eiben, who survives with the following children: Mrs. J. H. Hinrichs (Hattie), of Wayne township, Caroline and Emma at home, Ernest of Coggon, Louis of Castle Grove township, Mrs. Sam Rhatigan (Clara) of Monticello, Irene of Manly, and Harvey of Castle Grove township. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, his aged mother, Mrs. J. H. Heiken of Castle Grove township, and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth
Burrack of Strawberry Point. His father, J. H. Heiken; a brother, G. J. Heiken; and a sister, Anna Balster, preceded him in death.
Mr. Heiken lived on a farm in Castle Grove township for thirtynine years. In 1936 he retired and moved to Monticello, where he spent the remainder of his life.
Those attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. William Martens, Paul and Edwin Schmidt, of Manchester; Mrs. Elizabeth Burrack of Strawberry Point; John Eiben and daughters of Waubeek; William and Henry Eiben of Prairieburg; Mr. and Mrs. William Suchsland and Lenora Suchsland of Muscatine. Pallbearers, cousins and nephews of the deceased, were Carl Heiken, Ben Heiken, George Heiken, Henry Heiken, George Balster and Marion Balster.
